Vera Iglesias (Gold medal in the test of
track).
In Men, Italy came back and became the
first and second position with Giacomo Airaghi
and Valeriano Notarangelo. The Podium was
completed by the French Alexandre Guyomard.
France got the gold medal in the test of speed
with the Junior skater Catherine Dupoy.
Laethisia Schimek of Germany became the second
position and the bronze medal was for The
Netherlander Mandy Groot.
In the Junior Men category, Italy wanted to
continue in the podium and got the gold and the
bronze medals with the skaters Michael Locci and
Diego Mancin. The silver was for the Belgian
skater, Niels Provoost.
In Senior Ladies, Italy was again in the highest
and received the gold and the silver medal with
Nicoletta Falcone and Desiree Contenti. The
bronze was for the German, Stephanie Dreyer.
Erika Zanetti, who had done the best time in the
heat, was fifth in the final.
The Belgian Wouter Hebbrecht got again the gold
medal in speed like in the track, after make the
second best time in the heat. The silver medal
was for the Spanish Joseba Fernández who also
improved. The bronze medal was for the German
Matthias Schwierz, who had done the best time in
the heat but who got the third place in the
final.
Later, around 18.30 hours was the turn for the
first long races on road. These races were of
Elimination and we could live exciting
competitions, because all the skaters wanted to
get the European medals.
In the test of 15.000 meters inthe Junior Ladies
category, Italy and The Netherlands were the
leaders of the group. After 31 laps, the
Italian Giuliana de Blasio arrived in first
position and got the gold medal. The silver
medal was for the German Katharina Rumpus. Irene
Schouten (The Netherlands) arrived in third
position and got the bronze medal.
In men, for the test of 20.000 meters
Elimination, Belgium, Italy and France were
always in the head of the group. The Belgian
selection wanted to be in the final with its
three skaters, but only two of them were in the
last lap. When only lacked one lap to go the
Italian Matteo Melis began the sprint and got
the gold medal. The silver was for the young
skater, Jore van den Berghe (Belgium) who got
one more medal in this EURO2009. The podium was
completed by the French Joris Garderes.
After them, was the momento for the Senior
category with the test of 15.000 meters
Elimination and 31 laps to complete for the
Ladies. Italy couldn’t dominate the race with
its three skaters and finally only got the
fourth and the third place with Lardani and Di
Eugenio. The gold was in this occasion for the
German, Sabine Berg, meanwhile the bronze was
for the Netherlander Elma de Vries. The bronze
was for Mareike Thum from Germany.
In order to finish the competitions began the
race of Senior Men for the distance of 20.000
meters Elimination.
Belgium dominated the entire test with Spruyt,
Swings and Tas, who were in the front of the
group during almost all the race. When only
lacked one lap, two Italians and two Belgians
began the last sprint of the day and finally
Fabio Francolini got the gold medal followed by
Ferre Spruyt who was second. The bronze was for
the Belgian, Bart Swings.
