# The first stage of the World Inline Cup was in Cartagena de Indias
The young Colombian Elizabeth Arnedo surprised to us and was the Champion; in men Joey Mantia shone

After some month of delay and alter the confirmation of the place for the first stage, yesterday the World Inline Cup began.

The city chosen was Cartagena de Indias in Colombia where after some days of competitions for the “Copa Cartagena” of speed skating, the first marathon of the C1 of the year was celebrated.

The day of competitions began at 08.30 in the morning with the race for the category pre-juvenil.

The arrival to goal in the ladies category was really exciting and the Colombian Marciana Sarmiento (Codecar) got the triumph of the morning, followed by Estefanía Hurtado (CMB Metropolitano) and Johanna Viveros (Luz Mery Tristán).

In the category of men, the first and second positions were for the skaters of the Codecar with Carlos Vidal and Juan Camilo Pérez. The third place was for Andrés Campo (Correcaminos).

After this test, it was celebrated a really exciting competition of the 100 meters sprint, and then the so waited World Inline Cup. The circuit chosen was one that passed by the most important places of the city. Each lap was of 4800 meters, and the skaters had to complete 9 lap (around 43 kilometres).

In the test of ladies were some who tried to escape, but without obtaining it, but finally to less than a kilometre, the Colombian Elizabeth Arnedo (Codecar) attacked and got the triumph of the competition. In second position arrived Maritza Pescador (LTM) and the third position was for Cecilia Baena (Powerslide).

After the race of the ladies was the turn for the test of sprint for the men, for the 100 meters.

After this competition was celebrated the marathon of men, where great names of the International speed skating were present looking for a place in the podium.

Some kilometres alter the beginning, a little escape happened, but little later the group took them. Kilometres ago around twenty skaters increased the speed and got the goal alone.

Finally the American Joey Mantia (Luigino Arom Wheels) got the triumph of the competition and dominated in the day. The second place was for him companion, the Italian Maximiliano Presti. In third place arrive the French Yann Guyader (Powerslide).
